ASUS A8N-SLI - need to replace chipset fan

The fan on this chipset cooler seems to be having trouble spinning. I cleaned it off of the little dust that might have collected and it did nothing. So I want to replace it.

Are there any options which are relatively quieter? I also plan on replacing my GPU cooler with the Zalman VF700-CU. The CPU is still fine with its ALPHA PAL8150 + 80mm fan.

If you just want to replace it, contact Asus and let them know that your chipset heatsink/fan and died. I had the same problem and they mailed me one within the week.

While ASUS will provide a chipset fan replacement for free, removal and installation of a new NF4 heatsink/fan will require mobo removal- the replacement fans have been known die relatively quickly, so you might as well choose an effective passive solution. This way, there is no unreliable, whiny fan just waiting to fail (again). The heatpipe linked above is ideal, as it is the lowest-profile passive solution you will find, and effective to boot- it is also reasonably priced at ~$20 shipped. The $5 Zalman NB-32/47J may work depending on your airflow and how much (if at all) you are overclocking.
