Juss got my Asus A8N-Sli and love it! Got my 3000+ 270x9 @2430 mhz 1.424v

memory frequency 221.0 mhz Kingston value Ram 3-3-3-6 default volts

Bios version 1004-001

The build went smooth and only poblem was "nv ide drivers". <--- DON'T INSTALL THEM! =)

the 1T makes a huge impact on memory performance you could try and set it manually to 1T and see if the system is stable....i think you'll be the fisrt 😉 Everybody is getting stuck to 240 with the 1T setting...

You are correct! I tested 230mhz(DDR460) 1T vs. 287mhz(DDR574) 2T and the 1T setting wins all benchmarks by a sizeable margin. I saw another comparision that was more extensive that show you had to reach 295mhz 2T to beat 200mhz 1T

I have just set my 3000+ to 9x250=2250MHz (1.462V) and my Ballistix DDR500 to 250MHz (1:1, 2.8V) 2.5,4,4,8 2T.🙂

The system is rock stable at these settings. However, changing to 1T gives errors in memtest 1.51.

I will benchmark and let you know on the results.

I just got my sli board back from ASUS and installed windows xp without any problems .
The HDD is a SATA drive I install my older IDE HDD's my system would reboot after several min.'s
Anybody have any ideas why or what could be doing this ??

Probably the Nvidia IDE drivers. Uninstall them, reverting back to the default Windows IDE drivers and don't be surprised if your problem goes away.

peoples, in the interest of keeping this thread to a manageabgle size, please make sure to read the previous posts before posting a question, as it's very likely the question has already been answered.

My system based on the ASUS A8N-SLI's been running smoothly for the past 4 months,

currently on beta BIOS rev. 1005s.002 and OCd to 2585MHz.

except that 2x6600GT sli setup is a total waste as it's slower and more expensive than a sinlge card 6800gt/x800xl setup. And the 128MB limitation of each card cripples it's ability to do high quality high res. It's been established in all professional reviews that 6600gt sli is not a good proposition.

Hi guys I just built my sli machine (using the ASUS Sli Deluxe), and I am using 2 eVGA 6800GT cards, everything seems to be ok but I notice when I shutdown my computer it hangs on the windows shutdown screen, can't move the mouse just stays on the shutdown screen. I have to manually hold the power button down to shut it off. This does not happen all the time some time it will shutdown properly I have tried all the shutdown patch and have updated Xp to service pak2. I think it could be the drivers for the chipset not being certified yet, if any of you have any info on how to fix this I would appreciate, thanks!

Hi rombat!
I also have the same problem you refer you have... I have a A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard and sometimes my computer doesn't shutdown completely and freezes in the shutdown screen, and I can't also move the mouse! My problem is exactly the same you have! And I can't find a solution for it! Did you resolve you're problem? If so, tell me how please! It's a very annoying problem 🙁

I already changed motherboard for a new equal one, and the problem continues, I've updated it with the latest release dating 29/04/2005

Are you guys with this problem overclocking? I have experienced this behavior with an unstable O/C, it is a symptom of system instability. Overclocking or not, test your ram with memtest overnight. If ram isn't your problem, then test the power supply with a multi-meter or PS tester(cheap). Ram and PS are usually the main culprits in system instability. The CPU will usually only cause instability when clocked past its limit.

I think your Cpu can go higher! Try these settings:
1.450v
289 HTT x 9 = 2600 Mhz
LDT: x3
Max memclock: DDR333
Ram timings: 2-3-3-6,7 or 2-3-2- 6,7 (1T)

See if it works for you!

Now at 2411Mhz at stock voltage.

I got both these cards at $275, I would rather have two 6800GTs but budget constraints since I have a DFI system also.

Both cards for $275? That's less than one card costs over here...

How do I lower my chipset speed in SpeedFan? CPU fan works, but not chipset fan.

What are your chipset fan speeds?

The chipset fan speed cannot be controlled with software, only with a fan controller such as AKASA'S (hardware) you can do that.
My speeds are these: 9375 - 9926 rpm

Hi! I've not overclocked my computer... I'll try to check those things you told me and then i'll see what to do!

Bye and thanks in advance...

I had the same problem with the boot when trying dual channel with a pair of kingston KVR400X64C3A/512 on A1/B1 configuration, but using B1 / B2 worked fine.. no dual channel but at least i have 1gb RAM :S

Does anyone know of a page that has a good summary of the memory/configuration/speeds/settings that have been successfully used so far??

Got 2 new A8N-Sli-Premium MoBos sitting here, but I am still hessitating on which memory to buy.

anyone had updated to this version?? any isues??

I know Zalman NB47J is recommended many times here as the replacement to noisy chipset fan. However has anyone here used the ZM-NB32J, the bronze looking heatsink thats very similar and same material?

1) Model: ZM-NB32J
2) Dimensions : 37(L) X 37(W) X 32(H) mm

I would prefer to use this as its 15mm lower in height than ZM-NB47J. Same length and width so it should only be a few degrees hotter than ZM-NB47J right? Then i wont have problem with it getting in way of large video card fan/heatsink. Please comment especially people who have this heatsink.
