I just installed the thermalright 90C tobring my CPU temp down, now my next target is the mobo. I put two slot fans in the PCI bins, andof couse the little spinner runs at 8,000RPM's ... but I am getting low-mid 50's under load.

What is the spec temp for tis MOBO, anyone know?

The Lian-Li case isn't nearly as cool as I would like, and I would like to figure out how to mount a fan on the acryllic side panel (will take some cutting) - but for reference, under heavy load - what are you guys getting on the A8N?

Your temps look fine. The FX55's run a little hotter than other chips. My peak load temps are in the low 50's with a winchester 3200+ overclocked to 2.6ghz.

Thanks, I was hoping to hear that.

If you look at my sig, my poor MOBO is running alot of gear.

I'm thinking maybe I should take the EZ-connector PCI power plug out since my power supply already has two graphics card connectors.

I'm not sure if that would be adding extra heat or not.

I think you should leave it plugged in. Shouldn't be causing any extra heat, and is most likely necessary with those two Ultras. You might need to get an extra case fan if you can fit one, I'm sure with the Ultras it stays pretty warm in there.

That's one monster of rig you've got there:)

Hmm... that 50's temp... Is it your case temp or your CPU temp?

If it's your CPU temp, you are OK. If it's your case temp, you are in deep doo-doo.

It's the motherboard temp.

No idea what the case temp is.

With 8 fans running in it, there's not a whole lot more I can do except for watercooling.

I think you should be fine. Just to be sure, you could always replace the northbridge fan or try configuring the case fans in a different way. Do you have nay of those 8 fans running as an exhaust? My CPU runs up to 50*C under a big load, so I don't think 50 is that bad for your mobo. If the mobo temp monitor is anywhere near your video cards, that would explain a lot.

Try touching your board next time you get it up to 50 & see if it is really very hot, because a lot of temp measuring software sucks & will give you readings that are way off. I think the A8N SLI had a big problem with this when it first came out...have you updated your BIOS for the mobo at all?

Well, 5 fans are running as exhaust. Back Case 80mm, PSU, Top Case 80mm, 2 x PCI slot fans.

2x80mm intakes in front of the hard drives.

I noticed on Speed Fan that there are 3 temperature readings.

CPU
Motherboard
Temp 3 (Unknown)

Under 100% load, all three go into the 50's, however, on idle, temperature 3 drops into the 20's. It seems that the 8,000 RPM fan is blowing on Temp 3.

Is Temp3 the Nvideia chipset reading, and if so, what part of the MB is temp 2 reading?

I just brought up Nvidia monitor, and my GPU idles in the 60's and loads up to 75 or so. I assumeit is only measuring the top card. I wish I had tested it before the slot fans, but under 80C seems to be well in-spec for 6800 ultra's

50C is FINE!!!! Don't mess with something that isn't broken. Cooling your SLI chipset down to 30-40C won't be any different that it running at 50C.
