Because once I had the same proplem with an installation kit( vga driver, i think)

"The question remains why mine works with the install and his doesn't though.."

Maybe we should ask ASUS/NVIDIA, but i don't think that they knows the answer. Anyway, in Hungary the A8N-SLI is just out. I know only one person who has the same motherboard but - i need hardly say - his mobo is without any installation problem. :))

From first post:

Resolution: Download the files from here. Unzip them to <nv firewall install root>\bin (typically c:\program files\nvidia corporation\networkaccessmanager\bin). Then run "regsrv32 AppFltUi.dll" from a command prompt in the bin directory.

This should, of course, be regsVR32 (not rv).

Thanks a million for sorting this one out - I'm almost happy with my decision to buy a revision 1.0 board ;)

When I had the NV firewall on I could not get autoupdate programs (Norton AV and Windows autoupdate) to work without turning off the firewall. Even if I set the FW to allow the connection in the popup it would not connect. Now I have it uninstalled. I am firewalled behind a netgear router, do i even need this NV firewall? Any ideas on a fix?

Thanks,

Scott

There are 3 options with the NV firewall, which are, Run: ON, or Use Windows Firewall with NV antihacking, or OFF.
I set my NV to 'Use Windows Firewall with NV antihacking', and windows updates fine.
I have also turned off Norton Firewall, but keept the Virus portection on.

The problems i think most of you are finding are becasue you are trying to run more than 1 firewall, which isnt really possible. But if u set th NV firewall to only use the anti-hacking, then u shouldnt have the problems.

In Brief:
-Leave Microsoft Firewall ON
-Switch NV Firewall to run with MS Windows Firewall, and only use the Anti-Hacking
-Turn Norten Firewall OFF

(I chose those settings becasue MS firewall seems good, and easy to update from windows, and i think the NV firewall with anti-hack is a good feture to have, and the Norten Firewall seemed the most annoying and time consuming) - the NV firewall also has alot of functions :)

p.s. SMatson - if u got a firewalled router then dont bother.
vegse - Thanks for the link, but it doesnt include NV Firewall? i cant find nv firewall on my cd, can u plz tell me where is it?

Siddy:

You can find the NV firewall in: Drivers\Chipset\WINXP_2K\Ethernet\NAM\NetworkAccessManagerSetup.exe

That's all.

I have never had any issues with loading the software on my machine, however, I cannot configure this software to allow me to receive any email (outlook express) or update my Norton AV. Any suggestions?

Also try Process Explorer. I love it! It's freeware and quite excellent for viewing running processes (as little info, or as MUCH info - which is pretty much EVERYTHING, you want).
