Asus A8n-SLI and Zalman 7000B AlCu

Has anyone installed the Zalman 7000B AlCu on the Asus A8n-sli? Can I use the factory installed retention plate and backplate on the Asus A8n to hold the Zalman 7000b? I remember reading some posts on this forum about having to remove the backplate on some motherboards (MSI) to install the one that comes with the Zalman 7000b - however everything seems to line up perfect with the factory ASUS board.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Dan

Does that mean you had to remove the factory installed plate. If so, how do you do that? Is it necessary for the lighter 7000B AlCu?

Thanks,

Dan

I don't know what they use on this board, but the one that Asus slapped on the back of my K8N-E was as beefy as the one that came with my Zalman, not to mention it was glued on as well, so I wasn't going to go to all the trouble to remove it.

I also just used the one that came with the board on my DFI Lanparty board and it held up great.

So it shouldn't be necessary to remove it. I think Zalman includes it for older Athlon 64 motherboards that didn't already have one.

I am using the supplied ASUS backplate, mainly because I lost the one that came with my Zalman, had it running on a P4 board for a couple years almost.

Haven't had any problems and it works a treat.

Using the 7000B Alu with the zalman backplate. Fits well on the A8N Sli, and is an excellent choice with the Liteon 761S case as it has an adjustable scoop to feed the zalman fresh air from outside the case. 😉

Im using the Zalman back plate on my board. I would have used the one from Asus but the nipples didnt want to screw in nicely. (damn that sounded so perverted) =X
