Hello all, wondered if anybody can offer any advice. I am building a system using A8N-SLi & Athlon 3000 Winchester CPU. when I turn it on the fans power up etc but I receive no beep codes.

Any idea's ? Is the motherboard compatable with the CPU out the box ?

Ideas/suggestions would be most welcome, the shop where i purchased them from are now closed till tuesday, at which point if i have not managed to get it up and running I will take it to them.

Cheers
Kev

Disconnect everything and then reconnect just the cpu, memory and gfx card (and psu ofcourse). Make sure everything has the proper contact (especially the memory sticks and the gfx card). Also try booting with just one stick of memory. And try reseating the ez selector card (the little pcb between the pci-e gfx slots). Try inserting it two times, one time on each side (I've heard some of them are printed/instered with the wrong info on them).

Oh and detailed specs on your signature would help greatly.

And plug in speakers, that board has a voice post reporter. It will tell you where the post process fails, like "System failed VGA test" or "System failed CPU test" etc...

thanks for the advice people, it turned out to be me not paying attention (never build a new rig late at night, grrrrrrrrrrrrr )

I had not connected the 4pin +12V connector, this apparently powers the CPU, hence the problem, as soon as i connected this it worked fine.

I had thought that was for P4's, but then what would it be doing on an Athlon board .... I live and learn, anywayz its working now and rocks (compared to my old system anyway).

Thanks for all the help, these forums are great :)

cheers
