Asus A8N memory devider?

Ok maybe Im blind or just retarded or something, but I cant seem to find out how to devide my memory in my bios. My old mobo had a place to do this "1:1,2:1" ect...
Flashed to the 1004 bios, said to be better for overclocking, but still no devider. There is some new timing adjustments though:TRC,TRFC,TWR,and TRWT. I have no Idea what to set these timings at. Corsair xms 3200 1024c2pt. Right now my mem shows to be running at 248mhz, kind of fast for this mem dont you think? Had to turn the timings to 3336 1T to make it stable. Would like to slow the mem down so I could restore the 2336 timings. Any help would be appreciated.

Even if you do find where the setting is, you may want to try benchmarking it at both settings to see how the performance compares. Did you try running it at 2.5-3-3-6 before you tried 3-3-3-6? There is a much smaller change going from 2xx to 2.5xx than 2.5xx to 3xx
 
the mem divider is set in the memory section with the "DDRxxx" selection. You choose the capability of your mem (or what you want it to be) and the board chooses the best divider based on FSB/HT.
In my rig e.g. I run the DDR333 setting, which gives a divider of FSB/1.2, as the board presumes, my mem is only capable of 166MHz FSB...with the overclocked FSB however, i end up with DDR416 again (250/1.2=208), resulting in a slight overclock with tightest timings...
If you run DDR400 it's 1:1, so with FSB 250 you would run your mem DDR500, etc...
 
Thank you for the info. I have tried to get the same answer before with 0 results. I wasnt sure about the "max mem" setting in the bios. I thought about it but never tried it, guess I should have been more nosy in my bios. I set the mem timings to 2-3-3-6 with the stock clock speed and bumped it to 2.5 with a mild overclock to retain stability. At 220 htt it wasnt stable at 2. On corsairs web site, my mem is supposed to be set to 2.5, the 2 setting is reserved for pentiums. I will try setting the mem to 333 and lower the timings to 2-3-3-6 and see how stable it is. Again thanx for the clear info.
 
SWEET! 2.4ghz with mem running at 218mhz, 2.5-3-3-6 t1. V-core @1.56 with no temp issues so far. Thanx for the help, max clock b 4 was 2.3 with crappy mem timings and a lot of voltage.
 
Doctorweir, did you see a usable performance increase with the tight mem timings? My mem will run at 2-3-3-6 at stock clock speed so Im wondering if the cpu clock speed could be ruduced to restore the timings and gain overall performance. Was wondering how I ended up with a higher mem clock speed with less htt also. Maybe im having a brain fart here. I used pc wizard to check the htt after initial boot into windows.

Zebo did a little shootout here, but for my part I never got a satisfactory answer, as there are lots of different opinions and experiences on this...
Better test yourself... 😉 Unfortunately my RAM won't make 250MHz 1:1 (aka FSB400 setting in BIOS), which may be due to the old 250-issue of the A8N, so I do not have personally experimented with this...but I would like... ASUS, can you hear me? FIX IT!
However some people do not have this issue...

But one thing is for sure: CPU clock is king, do not sacrifice CPU speed for higher memory frequency or tighter timings!
 
I was able to achieve a very high clock speed (cpu) with very tight mem timmings but had to declock the mem considerably. Cpu:2.57ghz with mem at 2-3-3-6 t1 with mem running at 380mhz(I think, wee hours of the night). Didnt do any benchmarks so I really dont know if it helped much. Boot times were amazing but that dont really tell me much. Currently running at 2.45mhz folding for two days now with a full load temp of 52c. Sure is hot to me but with a factory hs/f I cant ask for much better. Im thinking bout going liquid since the overclocking of the athlon 64 is far superior to the athlon xp or intel. My 3dmark03 score went up drasticly over stock clockspeed, 10,242 compared to 9,618 before. Not bad for an Nvidia 6600gt overclocked to 576mhz, mem@1.15ghz. Wondering about the overclocking of a 4000+. Is it like the 3200+xp, limited overclocking abilities due to to high temps and instability? The FX 55 is out of my price range completely. Next purchase will be another 6600gt. I havent updated my bios to the 1007 yet, is it anybetter than 1004? I know it isnt difficult, but I am having no problems and have been able to achieve good clockspeeds with my current bios. I havent read any threads on the 1007 so I figured you would know what the differences are and if it is worth the effort.
