maybe but who cares ? that is, just run your memory at 200 mhz 2-2-2-5-1T and you'll get the same performance as if you could run DDR600 with 1T. See? it doesn't really matter.

Just finished building this and still observing it. I don't know if I missed something because it shuts down and starts up again like nothing happens. It's like every 6 hours that this problem happens. Everything is stable except for that single problem that it just shuts down and I don't know why and then boots up again like nothing happened. Does this has something to do with the temp? I'm using bios 1003 and mem sticks is set at auto reading 2-3-3-5 2T. Everything is at AUTO and DEFAULT. I have a PSU blowing into the CPU and an exhaust near the CPU and a CHASIS FAN.

Coomar yes this is the same one that comes with the desktop bundle.

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 939 pin CPU
Asus A8N-E Socket 939
Windows XP Professional x64 Edition

Yes, I believe so. I was all set to buy either the MSI or DFI NF4 board, but looks like I'm going to start to have to research this board now.

I think I'll be ditching my space heater and getting this through the tech tour bundle deal. Lack of firewire is kind of a minus, but I'll probably just get one of the new SIIG PCI-E firewire cards. Wish I knew what core that 3200+ was too...

Someone on FW said it was a Venice core. Sounds good to me.

Yeah, lack of firewire kinda bites. And I wish there was a few more reviews about this board. All of the other ones seem to be pretty widely talked about, but this board doesn't get much press for some reason.

How much is that SIIG PCI-E card you're talking about. I tried a cheapie ~$20 firewire card off ebay a while back and it crapped out. Never could keep a connection with my minidv camcorder.

Dunno how much they are yet...should be released this month. I was talking to the SIIG people at a show last week and they were showing them off. Forgot to ask how much they'll be going for, but in any case I'll finally have a use for a PCI-E x1 slot 🙂

An Audigy 2 Plat. should come with firewire...s o you can seave an extra PCI slot instead of having to buy a sound card + a firewire card. Just a hint

me, too!

I'm pretty happy w/ mine.

a8n-e
winchester 3200+ PIB, OC'd to 2.3ghz
corsair value select, 1gb, running at 5:6 (didn't get too aggressive with this)
msi 6600gt video
seagate 7200.8 sata drive

No problems building at all. System has been pretty darn stable. I've had it for around 6 weeks now.

The motherboard fan is pretty annoying. I bought a $15 zalman fanmate, detached the existing fan from it's power source, and use the 80mm fan that came w/ the fanmate to cool the motherboard chipset. After several hours of gaming, the motherboard doesn't get hotter than around 35c. Asus is supposedly offering replacement chipset fans to replace the existing screamer.

I enabled the asus qfan feature. This controls the speed of the cpu fan, bringing it down from the stock 3000rpm, to around 1200rpm. It supposedly speeds up the fan after the temp reaches a configurable threshhold. The threshhold can be as low as 50c, if I remember correctly. I've never gotten the proc temp above 50c though, even after a few hours of prime95.

Lol @ flatbastard: Nice rig you got there. Certainly expensive, but what I found funny is that its called "A64 eater".

I cannot possibly imagine how much that monitor weighs!

I just bought this board (A8N-E) on ebay for $90 new. I should have my new system together by the end of the month. I can let you know what I think then. I had one question. If I had 4 512mb ram sticks will it still run them as dual channel? or will it only do that with 2 sticks?

I personally don't care about the lack of firewire. Most intergrated firewire solutions come with crappy Via firewire controller. I'd rather have a TI firewire controller, even if it means getting an add-in card. Personally, I just use the firewire controller built into my Audigy 2ZS.
