Asus A8N-E compatible RAM?

Just purchased the A8N-E motherboard along with 2x512MB Corsair VS RAM, then checked the online manual to find out it isn't on their approved vendors list to be used in dual channel with this board. So have now cancelled the RAM but keeping the board still, and not sure which brand to buy between these three:

- Kingston

- Samsung

- Hynix

Can anyone recommend what I should do?

Wanna stay with 2x512 though, being on a budget.

Thanks for your help!

I have a personal preference of Crucial because there is no guess work involved. In all the time I've been buying Crucial memory (since the EDO days,) they just worked and worked and worked.

That said, they do cost considerbly more...

Funny, I'm using Corsair VS DDR400 in dual channel on my 939 A8N-E.
Far Cry, Brothers in arms, Riddick, Shadow ops and 5 other game demo's all work perfectly{except Fear, but that needs 2 gig}.

Anyway, as long as you get good quality ram, you should be ok.

Thanks for the replies 🙂

I've heard mixed reviews using the Corsair VS in the A8N-E so seeing this is my first build wanna try to avoid any problems.

I won't be OC'ing and I'm gonna use a Venice 3200+ in this build, so do you think this is a good choice:

OCZ Premier Dual Channel Kit 2x512MB DDR400 PC3200 CL 2.5-3-3-7

Will OCZ provide good performance without overclocking?

Only concern I have is that I checked the "Motherboard Compatibility' section on OCZ's site for memory with the A8N-E and they don't list the board at all 😕

Thanks for your time and help guys!

I've used 2x512MB PC3200 Kingston ValueRAM no prob.

My initial pair of 512MB Mushkin HP3200 Blue didn't boot in any Asus board, but RMA'd it and it is currently working fine in my A8N-E.

I am in the process of completing my first PC scratch build and I am using this board. I have had some small problems with the RAM and I purchased corsair XMS3200 memory. I have been on forums with corsair and Asus and what I found out from Asus is that they do not update there QVL for RAM and the tech support person at Asus instructed me to go to the RAM manufacturers web site and check for compatibility. Cosair has some good forums with links to this as well.

I was using 2 x 512MB Corsair XMS 3200C2 at 2.7 volts. Now I'm using 2 x 1024MB Crucial PC3200 at (I think) 2.65 volts. Power support by Antec TruePower II 480W on an APC BackUPS Pro1000 with AVR. Very stable 🙂
