Asus A7V8X just got it!!!!

Ok, I just put together with a 2400+ CPU. One thing is you don't have to unlock the cpu to change the multipler. When the system fires up the bios reports a 2400+ cpu no matter what the fsb is or the multipler is set to, put when you get into windows the changes are made. You can check system properties or I use Sandra. With a alpha I'm running 13x 170fsb and it runs great. Also the ram is running at cas2, turbo.

I never locked the cpu, It's just as I got it from Newegg.com
Alpha is 8045u.
I still use the system in my sig. This is just a play toy and gaming system.
I also have two Dual AMD systems running with XP's cpu's.
I love the Asus board it has on board everything. firewire,lan,6.1 sound and 6 USB ports. Also has digital out for the sound. Great to hookup to the main 7.1 sound system.

One other thing is corsair platium series XMS wouldn't run on this board. The ram is good as it ran on my neighbors system. I couldn't get it to work at all on this board or a Abit, amd761 chipset. System wouldn't even fire up at 100fsb. just errors, no ram.

My A7V8X will be here Tuesday and I'll be running it with a 2400+ as well. It ran at 2340Mhz stable on my 8K5A2+. I sure hope this board will run it at that speed as well.

I think NicColt was referring to the AMD CPU that you received. Was the processor locked, or unlocked (the traces were not cut)??
