Asus a7v333 non raid USB controller not getting detected but...

all my ports work when i plug a device into them. i put my printer and digital camera into every port and they both get detected. i also have front USB that came with my case and those work fine as well. what can i do to get rid of the unknown device in device manager?

You are absolutely sure that the USB is the thing that is not being detected? If you are I would recommend going to Asus's site and downloading the newest driver and run their program. If it doesnt say anything then reboot. If it still is showing up I would recommend at that point deleting the Unknown device and restarting. Often at that point Windows will search for the driver for the device and hopefully it will detect it.

The unknown device is under usb devices? Probably the usb 2.0 controller on board.

Definetly update your Mobo's 4-1 drivers. If your using the Via chipset go and download the new VIA Hyperion 4in1 drivers:

VIA Hyperion 4in1 v4.45, released 10 December 2002

make sure you update your Bios to the latest version as well.
