Asus A7V266E not PnP compatible w/ WinXP??

I'm working up my parts list for a new pc and checking on ram at the Mushkin site when I see this note:

http://www.mushkin.com/cgi-bin/Mush...b6090410ce2743c0a80102060d+EN/products/990700

"USER TIPS: There are frequent BIOS updates available for the A7V266-E that address disabling the on-board Promise controller and voltage / temperature issues still present in the first BIOS revisions. Windows XP-users need to disable PnP OS in the BIOS otherwise the board will not function correctly with WinXP."

Does anybody know anything about this? I've really got my heart set on using this motherboard and I really want to be able to use PnP. Has anybody had trouble with PnP on this board?

thanks.

all that option (plug and play os) does in the bios is assign irq by bios instead of windows assigning them if you turn it off. this does not affect your pnp ability in any way.

for example if you have an usb device, its still gonna detect it while in windows even if your turn off the plug and play os in bios

this option is really misleading. it should be called something like "let bios assign irq"

The mobo works great, seems make it for Win XP, just make sure you have at least the first BIOS upgrade (1004b). Also, its in AMD recomended list.
My only problem is the 80secs. it took for boot XP from the RAID. When a HD is present in the VIA controller, the RAID boots in 20 secs!. So a keep a 270Mb old Conner disk, it never boot from it, but the RAID boots really faster.
