Guess what?, I finally have a problem with this board, see if anybody can helpme or have the same problem.
I have and old RAID setup form my prior PC133 board (A7V133), its my only hard drive (its seen as one drive). The problem is that it takes 80 sec. to boot from the detection of the RAID subsystem to the password of WinXP PRO OEM. This time its the same it took to the A7V133 to boot, so I didn't worrie, seems normal, after it boots, its hell fast on windows operation!.
Each RAID drive is connected as primary in the Promise Controller with its own cable, all VIA 686B connectors are set as "Auto" in BIOS. I have a CDROM (liteOn 52X) in the first conector as Slave, and a DVD ROM in the second connector as Slave also. In the first 686B connector as primary there's a Hard Disk tray, so I can plug in a hard drive as primary master in the first VIA controller some day and boot form another OS.
Well, after 2 moths of use, I finally plug in a hard disk in the tray for virus checking (Quantum 1.2Gb), and guess what??, THE RAID BOOT IN 20 SECs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Its incredible but true. I make several test, but when the disk is present in the VIA channel as primary master, and it never was selected for boot device, the RAID boots really fast.
I took the disk and set the VIA controller as NONE for primary Master, detect the CD as secondary Master, None for secondary master, and DVD for the secondary slave, save settings and exit, 80sec!.
When normal boot (no HD in the tray), WinXP loader reads the RAID for 3 secs, then if freezes for 5 secs, read again and freezes, and so on. When the disk is in the tray, the readings are continuos and there's no freezing in the loader (the blue dotted line moves all the time).
AnyBody has an idea, I relly like to boot in 20 secs!!!!!!!!!
