Asus A7V266-C help on graphics card

Hi. I have the A7V266-C motherboard and it has an AGP 4X expansion slot. I am an avid gamer and I wanted to know what is the best and fastest graphics card i can put which the motherboard can handle.

If I recall correctly the A7V266 has a universal AGP slot so it should fit all AGP 4X and 8X cards. depending on what CPU you are using a 7800GS is the absoulte fastest AGP card but.....it may be a waste if you only have a 2000+ or something similar.

your best bet would be a 6600GT or 6800GS.

thanx stumps. Yes i have had my mind on the 6600GT actually, good you said it. In fact, i was a bit worried since on the motherborad box it was written AGP 4X! Well am relieved i will be able to put such an incredible card although its abit expensive. Anyway thnx for your precious advice and btw my cpu is the athlon xp 2000+.

if you are only using a 2000+ a 6600GT is probably overkill, but it would allow for plenty of head room if your board supports faster 266FSB Athlon XP's like the 2400+ and 2600+ or if you are really lucky a super rare 266FSB 2800+...yes they do exist I have one on a GA-7VAXP.
