ASUS A7V133 Temperature Readings

I run an 900 MHz Athlon Thunderbird on an ASUS A7V133 motherboard with a generic heat sink/fan unit. I've owned the computer for about 1 1/2 years now. I have never had problems with it until this week. My computer hung up and rebooted itself on me a couple of times. I've narrowed the possible cause to processor temperature. Since then, I've been monitor the temperature quite frequently. It appears to be running at about 53C to 64C range (most of the time it's been under 60C).

Here comes my question: for you all ASUS motherboard users, have you had problems with the temperature readings straight from the BIOS? It appears to me that it's reporting a slightly higher temperature than what it actually is - can anyone confirm my finding? Also, how warm does your CPU get? What HS/F unit do you use? What's the normal temperature range for my motherboard/CPU combo?

Thanks in advance!

define "actual" temps? Becuase no socket-a board gives "actual" cpu temps unless it happens upon a lucky combinatino of heatsink airflow and socket-thermistor compensation.

Chances are the asus is probably closer to your actual "CPU" temps than any other socket-a board, but it still has a chance of reading too low. Asus temps usually are in the 50-60C range, but that is adjusted to system temp. What is your system temp?

I guess what I was looking for is the BIOS reading of your CPU temperature, and what is the safe range of temperature readings from the BIOS for my processor (Thunderbird 900).

My motherboard temperature has been in the 30s.

since its a common board, i keep track of "normal" range of temps for it. mainly because the only socket-a temp comparison that can be made is that versus the same motherboard.

The vast majority of a7v133 tgemps are in the 50-60C block. Adjusting for different system temps and "highs/lows" gives a reasonable temp range for your mb.
