HI!

Got my new motherboard and cpu a couple of days ago, ASUS A7V133 and AMD Athlon 1ghz 266. Then after having put everything together, including my old harddrive, and IBM Deskstar 75GXP, 45gb, IT WON'T BOOT!! I have tried all settings with the ATA100, ATA66 and even ATA33, running with the high density ATA66/100 cable, and a normal IDE cable. No difference. The BIOS can see my drives, but won't boot.
Windows98 goes through in safemode. Windows2000 refuses with a blue screen in the middle of the bootup, telling me about a non bootable drive.

I have also installed the newest VIA drivers and the new Promise ATA drivers. Even updated the ASUS card with the new bios, 1.04.

I would appreciate all hints and tips.
Sincerely,
Jostein K:confused:

Ji!

Yes, I have tried all possibilities, also the primary and secondary Promise ATA100 IDE ports to the side of the floppy-port.

JOKO.... Unfortunately you will probably have to fdisk and do a fresh install of Windows. If you install WIN2K dont istall the 4in1 drivers if you don't have to. Here is my drive benchmark on an A7v133 WIN2K system with 800 duron that I just put together for a friend http://www.geocities.com/plex_86/Maxtor60.jpg If you do choose to install 4in1 drivers they must be installed before any of your sound video or other drivers. If you try to uninstall them they have still altered your registry and system files. I have put together 5 A7V133 systems with IBM-75GXPs and never had a problem other than the fact that two drives died within a couple weeks (its an IBM thing) Best of Luck
