ASUS A7V on the way in mail, need advice and tips!

here is what i plan on putting into system-
antec 300 watt power supply
factory unlocked duron 600 with FOP-38 w\ delta 7000 rpm
256 meg micron PC133
asus v6800 geforce ddr
maxtor udma 66 10 gig
mitsumi floppy drive
44x cd-rom
2x4x8 mitsumi cd-rw
turtle beach montego soundcard a3d version
3com 905 tx NIC for cable modem
i am mainly concerned with getting udma for all my devices so i want each hooked up separately as master. i do have a promise ultra 33 card for current system to do this but know that the A7V has 4 IDE channels on it, so i want to elimante the controller card if possible. my current board is the MSI K7T PRO. what bios tweaks should i be concerned with for best performance with this setup?
all opinions are welcome!

thank you

Yeah, you really need to update your boards drivers when you get it or you might have some problems with the GF, and the sound card.

Get the new Via 4 in 1 drivers, and get the new promise controller drivers.
I strongly recommend a fresh format/insatll of your o/s and insatll these drivers before you do anything else.

Also, the 1004a/c/d aren't very good bios'.. in my opinion anyway.
Grab the 1003 bios, and you should be fine.

Make sure you put the soundcard in Slot3 and the network card in slot4.
I had problems with my USB ports with the Network card in Slot5. The soundcard
must be in slot3, because it gets it own IRQ.

Considering you are using a Nvidia card, I would suggest that use the "normal"
setting in the in stead of "optimal" because of problems with AGP4x. Bios version3
is best one to use.

Why did you swap your K7T Pro for a A7V and not a K7T Pro2? I swapped my MSI
for a A7V and it was the worst move I could have make. I am waiting for Aopens'
new KT133 motherboard (AK73 Pro) and getting rid of my A7V.

well from what reviews i have read the A7V looks to be great board as long as you use the right bios for it. i got the one i am getting for $100 from the for sale forum here. i have already downloaded the hacked 1.03 bios for the board. i hope everything goes good for me 🙂

i bought this from the guy who got flamed in the for sale forum for not posting a price for it, mleafs. i got it for $100 shipped, couldn't pass it up 🙂
