These fans die so often that my local shop has an entire rack of the exact same 40mm fan, the UPC label says "A7V133 fan" :D. Personally, I've had my A7V133 TBird 1200 machine running with the Northbridge (40mm) fan disconnected for over a year, I've had uptimes as long as 6 weeks in Windows XP (usually ended by a game hard locking the environment). I don't think it's necessary to have the fan working, it probably pushes 2CFM anyway.

Personally I'd just rip that whole HS off and try to find a bigger(taller most of all) one, like the one on the A7N8X.
Passive NB cooling > active NB cooling :)

Go but a Vantec northbridge cooler. 40mm fans die waaaayyy too fast. It's like they're mini suicide bombers.
