ASUS a7v northbridge chipset fan stopped...

These fans die so often that my local shop has an entire rack of the exact same 40mm fan, the UPC label says "A7V133 fan" 😀. Personally, I've had my A7V133 TBird 1200 machine running with the Northbridge (40mm) fan disconnected for over a year, I've had uptimes as long as 6 weeks in Windows XP (usually ended by a game hard locking the environment). I don't think it's necessary to have the fan working, it probably pushes 2CFM anyway.
 
Personally I'd just rip that whole HS off and try to find a bigger(taller most of all) one, like the one on the A7N8X.
Passive NB cooling > active NB cooling 🙂
