ASUS A7V Duron and FSB speed

I've recently bought a ASUS A7V motherboard together with a 1Ghz AMD Duron and 256Mb 133Mhz SDRAM. I thought it should be possible to run the system with 133Mhz FSB, but the board immediately drops dead if I try to set the bus speed to this value. The CPU clk multiplier I set to 7.5. Nothing but 100Mhz FSB seems to work. Have I missed something?

Hi

With Asus A7V you can only set the fsb to 100Mhz because it is based on the VIA KT133 chipset, not the KT133A. Only boards like A7V133 and newer can handle the 133Mhz bus. But you can set the memory to work in 133Mhz,while the CPU will work with 100Mhz fsb.

regards 🙂

yup what Gluon said 🙂

the kt133 chipset wont run anywhere near 133mhz fsb

usually they can only overclock to the range of 105mhz-115mhz fsb

i used to have a7V, it runs 115 top
nobody with kt133 can runs more than that
i believe, unless..... magic happened

peace

LOL 110 was the highest I ever saw, imagine 115..... ah those were the days. I still have my A7V btw with a 1.33 bird at 13x100. It's still chuging sweet.

the highest stable OC I could get on my Asus A7Pro (KT133) was 103.. 105 was unstable. god the KT133 sucked for that... blah.

your plan will just not work my friend.. the mobo's chipset cannot handle anything of the sort.

the highest FSB for me using A7V was 105 with Athlon 650... yeah those were the days, hehehe. Wish to have higher but well... what can you expect from old KT133?
