Asus A7V-133-C (BIOS) , What is "Symbios SCSI BIOS" ?

I have:
Asus A7V133-c rev 1.05. with 1007 BIOS (newest i think)
Athlon xp 1600+
192mb pc100
SBlive Platinum
D-link 530tx 10/100
H+ mpeg2
Geforce 256 SDRAM (Asus 6800?)
Yamaha 6/4/16 cd/rw
Piooner U-303 dvd (5x ?)
win98/xp dual
IBM 34GXP IDE
Fast SCSI Advansys ABP-3925-01

I have trouble getting into the BIOS of my Advansys SCSI card, (boot banner not showing up). Does anyone know what the BIOS feature "Symbios SCSI BIOS Auto/Disable" means ?

It is an integrated BootROM image for LSI (formerly Symbios formerly NCR) SCSI chips.
This means you can add a cheap SCSI card with an LSI 53C810 (Fast-SCSI) or 860 (Ultra-SCSI) chip, and boot
off drives connected to it although these cards never physically have a BootROM.
The setting doesn't do anything as long as there are no LSI SCSI chips in the system. (That's why it says "Auto"
there: No chip, no action.)

regards, Peter

With that particular controller you wont have a boot bios you can go into like todays performance controllers. They make a software disk for WIn98 that you use to do this. I believe you can download it at www.advansys.com.
