The BIOS revision 1004 provides adjustment to the measured temperature to make it closer to the actual core temperature. Anyone reporting temperatures in the low 30's is probably using an earlier BIOS which does not provide this adjustment. 60C is a bit high, though, and it's probably due to the Coolermaster, which just isn't that great of a cooler-you'd be much better off with a FOP-32 or a Taisol HSF...and never underestimate the value of properly applied thermal paste! :)

hey thanx for the tip....but I actually found my problem! The guy that put in the cpu for me forgot to peel off the blue bit of plastic that covers the thermal padding under the heatsink!!!!! What a lousy #$(*#!! But too all you newbies out there... BEWARE!!! the thermal pad usually comes with a protective layer of plastic for shipping purposes. MUST REMOVE FIRST!!! Or you could fry your Athlon!!:Q

Where is the blue stuff? on the top of CPU or bottom of heat sink? The bottom of my heat sink is all metal, but has spiral grooves. Is it bad?

The blue film (could be other color) is on the bottom of the heatsink. It protects the Phase Change Thermal Compound during shipping. Some hsf's have been known to have 2 layers, 2nd layer kinda transparent.

Spiral grooves sounds bad, what type of HSF ??

I asked for a "pine apple ice". Not till yesterday did I find out that all heat sinks that is cylindrical are now called that name. I suspect it is a no brand imitation, because some on the market all labeled "ThermalTake" while mine isn't. Is ThermalTake a good brand?

Yes spiral. Or concentric circles I can't tell. At least the bottom is not smooth. It also comes with a small packet of white "tooth paste like" paste. I don't know whether I should trust it anymore, because I feel that after it gets dry I saw white powders among the paste.

One related question: is the "conduction gel" (those clear gel in a syringe) sticky or not? That is if I use them would I have problems separating the heat sink from the CPU in the future?

Hey ciggybreak.

Where did you find the A7Pro?

Where can you buy it? How much did it cost?

I know it's a little cheaper than A7V, but is the only difference no ATA100 controller? Anything else?
