Hi, forgive my lack of knowledge in this area; I did some forum searches but was unable to find the answer.

I currently have an Asus A7N8X, which I love, and an Athlon XP 2000+, which is slow. I'm hearing all this great stuff about the mobile Athlon chips; are they compatible with my motherboard? Ideally I'd like to overclock, I have plenty of cooling.

Your thoughts are appreciated.

Hmm I think I just found on a google search that these two are certainly compatible. Please let me know if this is not the case, I value the opinion on this board more than the wide wide internet. :)

I'd wait for more experienced folks to respond - but at first glance, you want to check your BIOS and on-MoBo jumpers for range of Voltages supplied to the CPU. The Mobile Athlon XP uses less Voltage than the stock XP. Older A7N8X-Deluxe (or non) was therefore incompatible with these lower Voltage requirements. Unless a BIOS upgrade opens up more voltage options!

It is true that the mobile athlons usually run on lower voltages (1.45v I think), and the lowest you can go with the a7n8x is 1.65v. However it doesn't matter since the mobile chips are just regular athlons that are tested to work when undervolted. It will work fine at 1.65v and you will be able to overclock it significantly faster than a regular athlon.
