Asus A7N8X-E Dlx VS Abit NF7-S VS ??

hi, first off i apologize if this is a horrendously noob question. i did a search on both the asus and abit in an attempt to find a good comparison between the two to no real avail.

i am trying to build a good budget rig that can oc well and has good features. at one point i was set on the asus but after reading some of the posts here started considering the abit and maybe even the dfi infinity.

i will most likely put one of the xp-m cpus in this board.

is there anyone who has had experience with both the asus and the abit(or even the dfi) that can give me their opinion?

I think a member here, Oldman 420, has used these mobo's. Maybe pm about it.

Since it's budget rig, look into the Shuttle AN35N-Ultra, they're about $55.

My Asus A7N8X-Deluxe Rev 2.0 (No -E) caps out at 200MHz.

It'll run 2-2-2-11 @ 200MHz perfectly.

It won't even boot at 201MHz 3-3-3-8 though. Even at 2.8V.

I'm not complaining though, could be the fact that my ram is only rated for PC2700.

Asus a7n8x-e excellent mobo. i havent use the nf7 so i dont how they compare

a7n8x-e with latest bio should break 200mhz easily. with right ram and cpu of course

I think I'm going to go for Shuttle AN35N-Ultra I hear you can get FSB up to around 240 or so. A7n8x can't even get half that high.

I've had both. The NF7 fried on me for unknown reason (and took out my ram with it) and I got the A7N8X-E Deluxe as a replacement. The NF7 is FAAAR superior imo. You get a lot more flexibility with the NF7 and a lot less headaches as well (can't get my computer to go higher than 13x200mhz,,, anyone wanna help me out with this? =P ). I'd say go with the NF7. It's cheaper, and a lot better (except for the frying part).
