When I'm listening to music or watching DVD's my sound is fine, but when I start playing games Mainly Counter Strike the sound starts to go bad, it sounds like static and digital sound breaking up. I installed the latest Nforce drivers, I am overclocking, so could it be my northbridge overheating that is causing this sound problem?

Actually the North Bridge isn't responsible for sound - it is the MCP-T IE: The Southbridge (I'm assuming you have the deluxe model else that is the MCP)

And by looking at your rig with a nice OC that might be it. If you notice the Southbridge runs VERY hot anyway. I have the same motherboard and maybe once every month when its a real hot day and my case temps break 50 for the cpu (has to be a VERY hot day) the sound will crackle in some of the applications but because it occurs so rarely it doesn't bother me.

What I would do would be to stick a heatsink on. If you have some heatsink from the socket-7 days that is nice it should suffice. Beware though because the a7n8xd doesn't have holes to attach a heatsink so you are probably going to need to use epoxy....but that should make the southbridge run cooler for you in any event and hopefully get rid of that distorted sound

well i set the PC back to stock speeds and tried playing counter strike again and the sound still breaks up about 10 - 15 minutes into the game. For now I have installed my old Santa Cruz card for the time being till I can fix this little problem. With my santa cruz there is no sound issue at all.
