Hi Mech,
Do a google on a7n266-vm/SE and you will find a lot many threads but nowhere it is mentioned as to what the difference is.

Based on the fact that all the Google results are in foreign languages, I'm guessing that maybe the A7N266-VM/SE is what we call the A7N266-VM/AA in North America, but for the European or Asian markets. I've got some of each (A7N266-VM and also the /AA version) and there are no physical differences I've been able to spot.

The reason why I asked this is that one of the guys wanted to know if it is OK to update the bios for his A7N266VM/SE board from the asus site.(BTW I am asian).Thanks for making the things clear.

I can't say with authority whether the same BIOS is used for both PCBs. :( Even Asus' sites for China and Germany don't show an A7N266-VM/SE. Is your friend having a problem that definitely requires a BIOS update?

yes he is having problems in intalling Linux(mandrake8) and with audio/graphics under win 98SE
