Asus A7N266-VM: Does onboard video port match to standard case panel?

Also, this mobo is listed by ASUS as MicroATX form factor. What does that mean or more importantly, what does that tell me about case and ps selection?

yeah it will fit in almost any ATX or mATX case no problem and the micro ATX form factor just means the board is smaller than ATX but most any ATX case will take mATX boards as well so it shouldn't be a consideration unless you want an mATX case for the space savings or something. The mATX can get by on smaller powersupplies than ATX boards too but the cost savings isn't there really so no reason not to use a full 300+ watt PSU with it since more is better.

Also, the motherboard comes with a rear panel. If your existing case panel doesn't have a hole for the network jack that's above the USB ports, replace your existing panel with the one that comes with the motherboard.

FYI, the manual has some typos, and one of the biggies is that it depicts the CPU/RAM jumpers upside down. If you get one, just flip the manual upside down when you get to that part. :D Anyway, I have 13 of these in my work fleet so far, and we're having good results with them. I like them enough that I put one into my own work system (in place of an A7V333-RAID, if you can believe that... the nForce squeezes a lot more performance out of my SCSI card than the KT333 was doing).

There is one other glitch that you might want to know about in advance: when I begin installing Windows2000 from the compact disc, the video goes to a blank screen for a few minutes at the very beginning. Don't panic... go make a sandwich, and when you come back you should find it has popped up with the blue "To install Windows now..." screen. Evidently Windows2000 Setup has to get a video driver out and set it up.
