ASUS A7M266 question

I have an Asus A7M266 motherboard with a 1.4Ghz T-bord processor. I just recently upgraded my bios from version 1.004a to 1.007. Now, Asus PC Probe says my processor is running a lot hotter than it used to. MY processor used to run at about 122 degrees and now it runs at 141 degrees. Any ideas?

Reapply artic silver, make sure the heatsink is dust free and seated properly. If it remains at 141 degrees then it must be the new bios readings, don't worry about it.

That temp increase is a "standard" result when upgrading past the 1004a BIOS (1006 and above?). Widely reported on some sites. It has to do with the "adjustments" that ASUS made with the sensors to "more correctly" show the temp of the components. Something to that effect. Don't worry about it.

A word of caution though. You said it was running at 141 F, which is about 60c. That is getting pretty close to what I personally would be getting nervous with. Even though it probably isn't any different than you were running before (just being reported as different), you might want to take another look at your HSF and air flow in the case. You should at least be able to get it closer to or around 50c/122F, even considering the higher temp reporting that you have now.
