Maybe AMD did some arm twisting by refusing to put the mobo on its AMD approved list. Or the new certified list. Its also possible that the noise issues that have been a big issue with the 760 chipset are made worse by OCing.

Anyone know a link to info on a mobo mod to
be able to change this friggin' multiplier.
I am getting up to speed on this thing (had it 3 days)
My chip came unlocked! The L1 bridges are all 4 closed.
I only need the mobo multiplier mod and I am cruisin'.
PT3.3@200, 3dmark2000@8000 default voltage, freq, 2.5v for DDR
is only altered seting....

JustJustin, is there a way to tell (from the BIOS or whatever) that they it is actually at 2.5v? I'd like to confirm it.

Thanks,
Hans

"DDR lives!!!" (Review by MS)

This is one of a couple of places I read it. I have not tested it, I have been running this
way for a day now and went 4 hours plawing heavy 3-d games with only 1 128mb chip in (for insurance) and had no heat problems or crashes. Smooth and stable. I can shoot the chips before, during, and after heavy use to document the heat in a day or two, if you like, and post the numbers. I tried to talk to ASUS but gave up after the sun came up for the third time... Also, if someone knows how to actually test the voltage without damaging it, I will try it.

I still would like to see how to do the mobo mod... ANYBODY???
Come on, my bus is at 107, multiplier is stuck at 12. Help!!!

Thanks!!

AdamK47- I might be the guy. If so when and where? I lost a bunch of stuff the last couple of days- WinME freak-outs. I posted a similar question somewhere else but never could find it again. I have been so many places reading everybody's info, sent sever mail requests, too but never saw any answers.
Sorry if I missed your help, I sure appreciate it. I am back to ~8000 on 3d-mark2000, would love more!
Thanks, Justin.

I made this thread not too long ago. There should be enough information to help you out with the multipliers. I still can't get a 9.5x multiplier to work on my board. I can get the 9x multiplier just fine though.

Adam, sending you a list of all mods you made, setting changes also, to get someone from factory to 9X133, etc, on the ASUS A7M266. Hopefully it will post if O.K. and make it easier for people to do in the future. Thanks for all of the help! Justin.

I made a new addition to this thread that I pointed out in my previous post. I finally found enough information to get the modification to work perfectly without shorting any L3/L4/L6 bridges. This process is more complicated, but it is the only way I know of to get every single multiplier setting to work without opening/closing the before mentioned bridges. If you are brave enough to solder those super tiny resisters, you'll be happy with the results. It took me 4 hours alone to get those two resistor banks on there without having any shorts between the contact points. I'll make a new thread with all of this information for reference to anyone searching for this modification on Anandtech.
