Asus A7M266-D Question....

I have two questions. One, will an Athlon XP work in a A7M266-D even though the manual says MP only? I've heard of people using Athy XPs in dual proc configs, but it voids the warranty if I'm correct. The other question, the NIC card that came with the mobo says it will only work in ASUS mobos, but the ASUS USB 2.0 card says it will work in other systems. Will the NIC work in another mobo than an ASUS? Thanks all!
 
You maybe able to install XP CPU's if you they multi CPU unlocked. So you can stick in XP cpu's but there maybe a chance they won't work. As far as the nic, the motherboard I got didn't have one. The usb 2.0 card can be uses in any system.
 
Tried the NIC in my other system, worked like a charm, and the 3COM chip in it uses the BGA connections instead of TSOP...Will putting the Athlon XP in the system hurt the mobo/cpu if it isn't unlocked?
