Has anyone heard about this machine? A quick Google search shows availability in Europe. Does anyone think this will have a U.S. variant?

17" screen?
I'm waiting until it's down to 15.4". I don't want anything that large, anyways; also, it only has an X700, which, although decent, is not fitting to a laptop that large.. Also, it's limited to DDR333.

Well, the screen's resolution is 1440x900, so I think an X700 is appropriate. Compare that to the only other 17" Turion64 notebook, the HP dv8000, which has a resolution of 1680x1050 and a Radeon Xpress 200m GPU, and I think's it's a bit of a better value.

DDR333 does kind of suck, though. It looks like most Turion64 notebooks are being fitted with DDR333 instead of DDR400. But of the few reviews I've seen comparing Turion64's to PM's memory performance, it doesn't make that much of a difference.

Oh well, I don't think this will ever make it to the U.S. anyhow.

I just meant that they could have easily included a much higher power graphics card; with a laptop that large, you've got room to cool it.
That said, ASUS has started putting PCI-E slots on their laptops, and, if I'm not mistaken, the graphics card in the Z71V is actually a Mini-PCIe module as opposed to integrated into the motherboard.
Here's hoping that ASUS will start selling the modules seperately, because if they do, I'm going to buy one IMMEDIATELY.
