Hi everyone, im new to these forums and a noob at mobos and such so bear with me.
I am very interested in the Asus A7A266 becasue of its ability to support both DDR and SDRAM. I have a Gateway PC right now and I have 384 MB of PC100 SDRAM in it. Now the Asus site says that the mobo supports DDR and PC133 SDRAM. My question is will the motherboard also support PC100 RAM...or am I out of luck? I dont really care about the performance hit or loss of overclocking ability. I just want to get a new system cause I am sick of Intel and want to switch to AMD. I was thinking of a KK266 by IWILL also but I really want to go with the A7A266 cause of the DDR capability in the future. Well guys...can anyone help me out?

I think you need a amd 200mhz cpu to use 100mhz memory so if the board works with the 200mhz cpu it should be ok.

Well u can on the A7A use PC100 and an 266fsb Athlon but, in Anand's Socket A Comparision, it performed terribly in any conifguration, EXCEPT for 266fsb Athlon+PC2100 and in any case, AMD 760 still beat it big time. Go here to read it.

I would rather go w/ ASUS A7M266 or MSI K7 Master than ASUS A7A266.
I'm having 2 of them in my system and they are not as stable as the other 2 - MSI K7 Turbo. If you decide to go w/ it and using Radeon graphic card remember to download both updated Ali intergrated driver as well as Radeon 4.13 7075 driver. These have helped my set up more stable.
