At least get the IWILL KA266 or KK266.
IWILL are tend to be the overclocking side.
ASUS is the side where "newbies" rely on :). It started with AMD vs Intel. Nebiews = Intel, Computer Expers = AMD.

yeah right XONE, ASUS definitely not for newbies. You want a challenge, try those generic boards.

I have the asus a7a266 and I love it. I have not had one problem out of it. The AMD chipset is supposed to be a little faster but really......how much of a difference do you think it is going to make when you are running a 1.33 gig processor. Also the a7a has space for ddr and pc133 ram. Cant use them at the same time but it is a good deal for those who dont want to spend the money to do both motherboard and memory at once. My two cents.

Two things I don't like about this board, other than that Asus rocks!

1. I have the A7V133.. I like the 4 IDE ports built into it (although for some reason I have a a hard time using the ones on the promise controller..having some serious CD burning problems.. will have to try again soon....)

2. I like the A7V133 with all of the capacitors on the daughterboard, not directly on the mainboard. There are way too many capacitors near the socket, and someone with not-so-nimble fingers could find themselves killing their mobo because they are trying to put an HSF like the VolcanoII and it's #@(*$&#@(*$&#@ retention clip from heck on it.. that would be sad..

Other than those two little quirks, I love Asus. I've own a P3V4X and the A7V133, and loved them both..

cheers,
