Astronomers Discover a New Earth-Like Planet!

The newly discovered planet is relatively near us, about 15 light years from Earth. It is not precisely like our home planet, but a bigger cousin, estimated to be six to eight times Earth's mass, twice the diameter, and so close to its star that it takes less than two days to orbit, making its temperatures oven-like. The star itself is only one-third the mass of our Sun.

w00t, Michael Jackson should put on oven suit, move to new planet 😛

ok, after reading, they are just blowing smoke up people's butts. it is nothing like earth...well it is as much like earth as mars or venus...

Figures...seems like they are running out of "cool stuff" to tell people..so they resort to this.

Earth-like as in composition, not atmosphere. Venus is considered Earth-like as well, this is the first extra-solar planet like Earth discovered.

I think they're talking about terrain wise...as in rocky and mountainous

as for temperature, yes, it's hot there! 😉

i wouldn't define that as earth-like
earth-like means presence of intelligent life or at least conditions that would support life

Sweet news though. But I have the same question as everyone else...and I was kinda bummed out by the fact that it's not like earth at all...
