Has anyone used Astrive for student loans? If so, what are your experiences?

Basically, I have already received the loan check, but have not decided if I am going to cash it or not. My plans were to use the loan to pay off previous school debt and my next semesters classes. I do not have to start paying the loan back until 12/2009 and I have it worked out that I can save the entire re-payment amount by 12/2008. At this point, I would repay the loan in full.

I am interested in doing this because my previous school debt is sitting on credit cards at a much higher interest rate than the loan I was granted by Astrive.

Your thoughts?

You're still being charged interest in the meantime. Make sure you take that into account. Frankly, I think it's a good idea for you to eliminate those higher interest credit card debts, and if you're sure you can pay them off soon then more power to you. Pay off all debts ASAP.

Were you eligible for the Stafford Plus? I think that's interest-free until you graduate.

Haven't even looked into that. My current situation is I am a part time student in grad school (distance education) while working full time. My company offers reimbursement which makes it easier to pay off the loan within the next year. I just really want to get rid of the CC debt and the interest rate is 1/3 of that of my credit cards.
