Aston Kutcher, Oprah Winfrey and Twitter

Oprah, Ashton Kutcher mark Twitter 'turning point'

When I read this article I just want to put my fist through my monitor. Anything having to do with Oprah Winfrey (aka the savior of the world) makes my stomach turn.

The funny thing is that a poll (unscientific, of course) poll by CNN showed that (of those that responded) 93% either do not use Twitter or have never heard of it.

Another reason to give me hope ... that Kutcher, Winfrey AND Twitter are all irrelevant.

She's my university's commencement speaker this year.

What one person had to say about it:

?She is such an inspiration to making your mark on the community. She?s a self-made woman. She made her dreams come true by working hard and having a vision, and that?s inspirational, especially for women. I'm sure whatever speech she gives will really inspire the entire class.?

I lul'd.

How is that funny?

Because 80% of guys on campus simply let out a collective "meh." I look forward to the speech personally.

No matter how "irrelevant" any of them are, they're still millions of times more "relevant" than you.

Relevance is irrelevant. Twitter is still garbage and fairly useless compared to email and instant messaging. Status updates for every little thing you do? Really?
There are a few things that Twitter could possibly be used for, but on the whole it isn't some new innovation in communication that all these famous people and news networks are making it out to be. Are these people getting paid to promote it?

I doubt it. They're using it to promote themselves.

its a 'tool'

you can update your status constantly and get nothing out of it

or you can connect with people and get a lot if information, knowledge, and connections out of it.

Well put

ask the beef industry how irrelevant oprah is when she single-handedly caused a massive drop in sales when she said beef was bad for your health.

I agree with you ... but where did I say that I wished to be relevant? I believe that it may in fact be you who wishes he had a bigger penis?

Relevance is overrated. We come into this world alone and we leave it alone. Does it really matter who goes to our funeral ... or who remebers us?

We are still gone ...
