Unfortunately Skoorb is right. Nasa FER radar (Far Engaging Radio) has detected a good sized rock. Most of that info is under wraps, not so much classified but not released to the general public. Unfortunately, there IS (right now) a 47% chance it will hit. Those estimates are based on what information we have. Right now its not alot. So while that percentage may seem a bit high, its also a tenative estimate. Thats the good news. The bad news, the size of the detected object is large enough it would be the famed Planet Killer. The worse news is as they further examine and plot its course they can better figure its trajectory. And as of now that could mean a lesser, or greater chance of striking Earth.
Most of the info isnt released to the general public, in fact the FER radar system itself has only been operational for a few months at best. The object had been detected earlier but they couldnt accurately predict its path until the new FER radar came online.
More as I find out.

My sources also confirm this

We are in the know. It is our job, nay our duty, to educate our fellow man so he may be informed of this impending doom.

I'll be another to confirm this is true... although I don't believe that it's halloween that is the exact day it's going to hit, I remember reading somewhere around september.

Your freind is stupid. He read that in Maxim I bet... I saw that arcticle It saif it would hit but it is a lie. I belive in real life that it was a 68% chance it would come a few hundred thousand miles away. Which is close but not a direct hit lol.

Where did you hear this from Skoorby?
I made it up. Your roomate needs to stop drinking and getting high 🙂

No asteroid will hit us. One need only look on CNN. No story about an asteroid in halloween, is there? If one was going to hit you can rest assured that we'd all have heard about it.

Damn, there goes my European trip to follow F1 around this summer. Damn you Skoorb!!!

That sounds right, I think he did mention Maxim... which is a real legitmate source 😀

your roommate doesn't realize that the size of the earth is extremely small in comparison to rest of a universe. The chances of an asteroid hitting the earth dead on, are extremely low, we're like a grain of salt in an ocean.

Also, an asteroid with a 1km diameter is enough to eradicat life on earth through climate change. an asteroid the size of texas would be, like mentioned earlier, overkill. I'd be suprised how much the earth would be left after an impact of an asteroid that large, I'm sure the earth would sustain some damage.

Is this just another stupid doomsday myth or what?

He's right. It's been all over the news, where have you been?
