Asterisk Question

I have a fleet of 12 sales guys who are using calling cards to call home to their wife/children while they are away internationally. Is there a way to set up an Asterisk server for them to call into to make the cost of calls lower?

I'm not sure exactly how Asterisk works or how something like this could work..

Help is appreciated.

Absolutely. Many companies use VoIP to link branch offices and make use of cheap rates. My company offers hosted Asterisk systems that lets your telecommuting users utilize your phone lines at your rates, they just need a VoIP phone (there are a variety of free software phones online for this purpose) You also don't necessarily need Asterisk to do this, you could probably do it with a few VoIP accounts, but Asterisk would allow you to share a few lines with your sales team.

Would you happen to know of or have any how to's or tutorials?

Is there a way for them to utilize these rates from just their cellphone instead of a softphone?

Why don't they just use their cellphones to call home? If you want them to use their cellphone to call into an Asterisk server, then you are still going to have the cost of the cellphone call, plus the cost of the lines used by Asterisk.
