Associating files with programs

Hello
Is there a way to find out what program to use if you are trying to view a file of a type you are not familiar with? Right now I have downloaded diagrams and have two files with .vsd and .vss extensions. These are new to me. Is there a site or utility that let's you enter the file type and tells you what kind of file it is and what type of program to use to open it with? You know, when you get the following dialogue box:

"Click the program you want to use to open the file with. If the program you want is not on the list, click other. " Then it lists all the apps you have on your computer.

I did a search here for associated files, etc. but didn't find anything.
Thanks a lot!

Hi, and welcome to the forums!! 🙂 You can go to Tools > Folder Options > and click on the File Types tab. It will give you a list of extensions as well as the program that you're using to open the extensions. Hope this helps.
