Just caught this over on MSNBC..

Part of Patriot Act ruled unconstitutional

The Associated Press
Updated: 3:23 p.m. ET Jan. 26, 2004LOS ANGELES - A federal judge has declared unconstitutional the part of the USA Patriot Act that bars giving expert advice or assistance to groups designated foreign terrorist organizations.

In a ruling handed down Friday night but not made available until Monday, U.S. District Judge Audrey Collins said the ban on providing ?expert advice or assistance? was impermissibly vague, in violation of the First and Fifth Amendments.

Of course "small government" conservatives are going to object to any constitutional limitations on federal government powers.

That's it? But all the other stuff all the libs whine about is OK? 😉

So they should rewrite it to be more specific. Like "engage in contractual, monetary, or pro bono relationships".

so there was a law made that goes against the fundimental laws of the country

there used to be the time when people didnt do it or when they did they resigned in shame, doesnt happen in todays world

Well laws are claimed to be unconstitutional a lot of times. Nothing is definite.

I'm glad it's started to be declared unconstitutional.

Shows your knowledge of law. Laws, (or portions of laws, usually specific wording), are declared unconstitutional quite frequently, specifically for this "vague or unclear" reasoning. Try a search on Findlaw.com on "vague" 😉

Of course, since when did knowledge stop anyone from posting here. But that isn't quite as sexy as your rant?

PS: BBD what time is the party? 😉

depends where you live then 🙂 here there have been 4 such rulings against the government in the last few years I think, the highest number of all the countries in the northern countries (Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland)
