just writing a paper about assisted suicide and would like various oppinions.

example: prescribing a lethal medicine to end one's life due to a terminal disease.
 
For it. A person should have the ability to end their own life--no one should be able to tell you that you have to continue living. If they are unable to do so themself, assistance would be mercy.

How hard is it to off yourself, anyway? Jeez, get good and drunk, and swallow about 8 valium. You wake up dead, with no hangover!

If people need help, more power to them. Why prolong misery?
 
For it. Its much better, and more humane to let a person to die if they choose to than to force them to live out the last days/weeks of their life suffering and in constant pain (assuming it was known they were going to die and the suffering/pain would not be letting up).

now if it were math home work and he posted the problems for us to do that would be different

you want the case law and AmJurs stuff I've accumulated about this subject? I just wrote a practice memo about this subject in my Legal Research class (1L Richardson School of Law - Hawaii)

I watched my mom die a slow, painful death. No one should be forced to die the way she had to go. If she had wanted
to kill herself, she should have been allowed and her family should have been allowed to help her.
