More screenshots of the PC version. Someone on Gaf said that there isn't an option for tessellation in the game menu. But if I had to guess, tessellation is linked to the environment quality setting.. It probably enables on very high and ultra..

So, when does the game go live? I want to enjoy this 50GB download! :awe: (Comcast is soooo going to yell at me again this month.)

It goes live in the U.S at 2:00 am on 11/11/2014..

I also have Comcast, and I can't wait to see how fast my 100 MB/s connection downloads this behemoth

You must not be under the evil regime of Comcast's dastardly data caps! :( You know it's a rip-off when it costs you $55 for the service and 300GB, and to get an additional 300GB, it would cost an additional $60. Ubisoft needs to give me a discount if I can start quantifying how much the downloads cost me over retail!

I have Charter and just a few days ago they boosted me from 18Mbps to this:

I'll skim some reviews first but set on buying this one. Debating between GMG and $30 Origin India option...

This looks like more of the same crap to me, I usually get bored after a few hours in Assassins Creed games. Not sure why, they just all feel the same to me.

Comcast has never approached me about any data caps, so I guess I don't have one, or it must be so high that I've never hit it..

That's really good. I've never heard of that company. Are they a local or statewide company only?

Here's mine:

If you do the Origin Indian option, don't pay using your credit card. I've heard of people getting their accounts locked after doing so. Paying with PayPal though, I haven't heard anything bad about that..

That looks fast.

Charter is "native" to a few states, mostly mid west but I see that they are in 30 states now. The only issue I have with them is silence when I ask about the bandwidth cap specifics. I hope I was bumped from 250GB on this new plan.

5 AAA games can happen in a given month, that's the cap amount right there and that's without accounting for Netflix or any other usage during the billing cycle.

Back on topic, thanks for the heads up, I won't mess with Indian origin, buying on GMG. I'll check reviews in the morning and hopefully test drive the new speeds.

^ You still don't want to admit that the lighting / shadow model is broken in the game? The last 2 screenshots you provided prove it. Objects and people do not cast any shadows and are basically floating on the floor. Everything in the scene is pre-baked lighting model.

AC Unity is a completely broken/unoptimized game on both XB1 and PS4. It's just a matter of time before PC benches are released and I expect atrocious performance given the average current gen graphics.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity Framerate Is “Atrocious”

“Seriously I get the game is massive, but jesus the framerate in this game is atrocious,” said Reddit user Merkwerk talking about the PS4 version of Assassin’s Creed: Unity. “It’s not even close to a locked 30 fps, it feels like it’s running at 20 something most of the time and I’ve had it drop way below that a couple of times already.”

Shehan 1993: “Are you guys experiencing pop ins and huge frame rate drops especially in huge crowds? I’m playing on the ps4. Got any advice to fix this?”

iQuebec says: “I think my PS4 is dying because I’m having a lot of problems with framerate and textures lately, now I’m playing the part where you have to blend in the crowd to get past the guards and the clothes textures pop in big crowds is horrible. Is it really my PS4 or games just run poorly lately?”

“I would like to warn anyone thinking about buying this game,” said thewouldbeking. “I got it with my Xbox bundle. I just started it, and it runs sub 30 frames per second constantly. I would advise to wait until its fixed or not buy it at all. It is practically unplayable.”

I will not pay $50-60 for a PC/console game when the developer would rather rush the broken game for the holiday season for earnings purposes, and then proceed to spend 6-12 months patching their broken game. In that case, I'll wait until the game is fixed and costs $5-7 on Steam because it's clear to me how the developer treats me as a gamer. I much prefer when developers like Nintendo (nearly every game they make) or CDPR (Witcher 3), or Bandai Namco (Project CARS) delay their games and admit they need to fix their issues to make sure the game is actually ready for a worldwide release.

Ubisoft's track record speaks for itself - they only care about $ not delivering a good gameplay experience to gamers on various platforms.

TotalBiscuit's thoughts on performance so far.

Can't sleep and Unity is out so lemme tell you about my experience so far. I only got access to code yesterday so I'm not that far in but there's a promised Day 1 patch that by the looks of it is SORELY needed. Getting that game to run on max settings is a nightmare, it's a huge resource hog. My 2 980s barely keep up. In the small tutorial area I was looking at some nasty drops one 1 980, prior to Nvidia putting in an SLI profile.

As it stands I can JUST keep it at 60, though it has some drops below at times. The game doesn't really look like it justifies that. It has some killer popin, just like Watchdogs did, actors very obviously and inconspicuously switch between detail levels depending on your distance to them and often just appear out of nowhere and disappear at random.

Lighting is glitchy as hell and overall texture quality is poor. I will say the faces and mo-cap quality is excellent, it actually has a kiss that doesn't look like 2 robots rubbing their faces together, so there's that. The problem that I had yesterday was just the MASS of bugs. Guards spawning in from the sky, NPC actors wandering through terrain and clipping through objects, scripted sequences breaking at random and stealth seems like it's just busted.

I had a guy spot me in a stealth section, run up to me as I was standing and then "lose track" of me. I was right in front of his face, he just wandered off. Thus far the game seems like quite the step backwards. Combat feels much more sluggish than Black Flag, but I admit I have yet to unlock a lot of the weapons and gadgets, I'm not that far in. So I don't have much to say about the gameplay up to this point (its been super standard Asscreed stuff) but this Day 1 patch is sorely needed, because the game without it is a buggy mess.

Apparently Unity runs terribly on consoles too. Those with early copies on PS4 indicating its nowhere near locked 30fps

I have absolutely no doubt that the review embargo for Unity was set after launch because of what a technical mess the game is

Repeat after me. We will stop preordering videogames. We will stop preordering videogames. We will stop preordering videogames

No surprise. Another unoptimized turd pile from Ubisoft. Looks mediocre, but has performance demands like it's Crysis 3 on Ultra; Watch Dogs redux :D

Careful. This thread is only for praising this Nvidia sponsored, Ubisoft created turd. The gameplay/story might be ok, but the HBAO+ (looks like plain old standard lighting with crappy shadows), PCSS (shadows so bad it looks like everything is floating), and TXAA (nothing to say about this blurry turd) Nvidia "features" mean literally nothing D: Meh.

More TotalBiscuit goodness

Would like to wait until this 1.2 "day1" patch hits Unity before I do my port report

I can stay above 60 on very high presets, though weirdly, almost no individual options seems to affect framerate at all

Ultra high is a no-go if you want constant 60

That might be acceptable if on a technical level the game didnt look like arse.

Texture quality is awful, even on characters clothing, huge popin, incorrect lighting, faulty texture streaming

Those suggest in cpu bottleneck, well it's utilising about 35% of my cpu time, so I'm not so sure.

The artists have done a fantastic job as always, they've been let down by whoever is responsible for the technical side

Needless to say I monitored all cores, there is plenty of activity across all threads

The game also wont let me capture at 60fps. More like 40, even though my framerate is actually 70 or higher, borked

Scratch that I can't even capture at 30 right now either in some areas. Mindboggling

I have some lovely footage of models with holes in them, actors teleporting over terrain, clipping through other actors

I do wanna give em a chance with this day 1 patch before I put this out. But YOU SHOULD NOT BUY THIS GAME RIGHT NOW.

Those wondering "isnt this breaking embargo?" Well no, the game has been out for half a day, this info is from a retail copy

Review embargo lifted.
Ign 7.8 gamespot 7 polygon 6.5. I was going to buy the game today. Now I won't. I was very worried that two ac games at on e would mean neither is that great and ubisoft's strange behavior with no review copies on rogue turns me right off.

couple hours in and i am having fun with it so far

7950 not having too many probs at 2560x1440 - i did turn a couple settings down, but so what? people act like having to turn some settings down ruins the game.
