is pretty damn cool!! I like it so far. I just finished the first town and I'm moving to the 2nd town.

I can run the game on Highest settings at 1680x1050 and I regular get in the 50 FPS range. It dips down into the 30s every so often. The graphics are nice but I do notice a few spots where its not so great. I see some jaggies, a little flickering, and some of the shadows don't seem quite right.

Merged the two Assassin's Creed topics.

I agree, I was seeing some artifacting in the later part of the game, but it seems to have fixed itself now. Its a great game, I am really enjoying it.

Well, so far the saving system is really pissing me off. Fucking console ports.

OMG, Pontifex actually thinks a game is cool? I never thought I'd see the day...

Since Ponti hates everything (nearly) this must be a decent game. I might pick it up

Assassin's Creed was amazing. I played it on 360 when it came out. Unfortunately, I hear the PC version is not as polished or smooth.

I'll be getting it eventually. I have a few other games I want to play first.

Waiting and seeing. The main gripe I hear against it is that it's repetitive, so "just finished the first town" doesn't mean anything to me. Check back after town 4, or whatever.

I want to like it soooo baaaad because it's from the same team that did Prince of Persia, but even they gotta deliver the goods.

Getting repetitive. I'm "halfway" through the game and well, I'm going through the motions because there's nothing out at the moment that I'm really playing besides the occasional DOTA match and CoD4. All this talk about a "directors cut," and quite frankly, the four extra "mini missions," don't add much to the overall game.

I was hoping for a lot more finishing moves as well!

edit - halfway, as in 5 out of 9 lol.

I guess you don't need 3 gigs of memory after all.

Plays very smoothly. Everything cranked with AA.

The game is much better with a xbox controller though. Makes it much more simpler than keyboard and mouse.

DX9 Screenshot

DX10 Screenshot

I don't know why dx9 screen shot looks washed out and dx10 doesn't. Dx10 doesn't seem that dark in play however. I didn't change anything in the game setting. Using exact same setting for each.

Using 1440x900 8xCSAA 16xAF

My girlfriend gave the Directors Cut to me for my birthday yesterday... I LOVE it. Playing at 1680x1050 at maximum, and it's very very pretty. Some shadows are jumpy but I'm used to that in new PC releases, it's not a big deal.

I really do like it on mouse and keyboard, so I'm not going to use my T-Mini.

BY THE WAY! If anyone is having trouble with it starting and staying in windowed mode, just make sure the game has focus and then hit Alt-Enter. It will switch back to full-screen. :D

Edit: Question, in Vista, it's going to play with DX10 automatically, right?

No there's 2 exe files. You choose whatever you want to play with.

I echo the sentiments on the system requirements. It's not nearly as choppy as I thought it would be.

there seems to be a bug where Altair just keeps doing that gentle push animation constantly. i can't seem to figure out how to make him stop it without exiting the game. its really annoying because when he's doing it, you can't perch on objects, like those view points. he just keeps falling off and hanging on the edge.

other than that and the crappy save system, i still really like it. i'm still trying to get the hang of some of the controls and stuff.

i love the middle eastern setting. I'm in Damascus right now.

Lol, I've never come across that bug; the only thing I get is the occasional CTD. I'm 6 of 9 and it's coming to the point where I don't want to save citizens anymore, just do the 3 information missions, assassinate then repeat.

And there is no way I'm going to look for all the flags and templars since you don't get anything worthwhile for it.

Are you people sailing the seven seas? Where are you getting this and what price are you paying? I'm actually quite surprised at how many people have picked up this game opening week and have presumably paid $ 55 bucks for it...... Is it worth all that?
