I've seen videos and such for Borderlands, just doesn't entice me much.

I'm probably in the minority, but I like the direction they choose for the graphics. Story is fairly thin, but it's still a very fun game. Been playing online some with our fellow ex FM2 racer CK. It also has alot of replay to it with the different classes, which is a great plus to me. The only games I've bought are ones that have a pretty good replay to them.

Ok, I've played the game quite a bit more. I'm still having a blast playing it. It's really everything AC should have been. There are still a few things that kinda tick me off a bit. Like when I lose my sword, it's sometimes impossible to find it again on the ground, and sometimes I some how end up equiping one of the weapons I pick up, and there is no way to unequip it without going to the blacksmith and buying a new one, or going all the way to a specific city to change it. This doesn't really happen all that often though, maybe 3 times in the entire time I've played the game.

I like how they got rid of those bums that would always get in your way in the first game, pushing you around and drawing attention to you, but in this game it seems they replaced them with another annoying NPC. There's these guys that run around with guitars or mandolins, whatever they're called, and they run to stand right in your way. When you're trying to blend and stay out of sight, sometimes 4 or 5 of them with run and stand in front of you looking for money, so you get caught up in them and have to try to force your way through or around.

And it's true, every now and then the controls can be a little annoying when you have to follow a specific path, but in general they are pretty good.

Other than these minor annoyances the game is really fun. I'll never get tired of walking up to 2 guards and stabbing them both in the neck at the same time.

Haha. Yeah, the bards are kind of annoying. Just throw some money on the ground and you'll get rid of them.

For you guys who own the game is it a rental or is worth buying at full price?

I'm renting it and I don't know if it is a $60 purchase but it is definitely a purchase over a rental unless you're using Gamefly and can rent for an extended period of time. There's too much to do between the treasures, codex pages, assassin's tombs, beat ups, races, assassin contracts, tower climbing, etc for a mere 5 day rental or so.

I'm not going to be able to get through the game unless I spend every waking moment playing this weekend. Which isn't going to happen.

For those of you that played AC1 as well, is AC2 a continuation of the storyline? I never finished AC1 and I've heard AC2 is a significant improvement (improves many of the reasons I shelved 1) but was wondering if I should go back and finish 1 before trying 2.

I read the game is kinda buggy. Is that true? Did you guys experience any issues with the game? Xbox here.

It kinda is and kinda isn't. There's 2 main stories to the games, Desmond's story, and the assassin's story (atair, ezio). The second one isn't a continuation to Altair's story, but it is for Desmond. They do a little summary at the beginning of the game, but it's not very thorough.

Where did you read this? I haven't seen any bugs at all. I haven't finished the game, but I think I'm pretty close.

So you'd recommend completing the first prior to the second?

The story of the first game could probably be read on a wiki page, and it would be just about as intriguing as playing the game haha. Desmond's story is pretty simple, and it may not be worth it to you to play through a game that you don't enjoy. If it was me, I'd play the first game, but that's just the way I am. I have to play all games in order. I also played the first game twice (maybe 3 times), so maybe I'm not a good person to ask.

Yeah, I was thinking about just wiki'ing it. Maybe I'll see how much I have left to finish.

I played this today for like 2 hours or so.

this is one of the slowest starting games i've ever played. i haven't even gotten to any assaination parts yet, it is all being an errand boy and what not so far, and beating up a guy who cheated on my sister...

the whole beginning part shoulda been a cutscene, what a waste of like 30 minutes.

I took it as an extended tutorial session...

It's all on the official forums? :p Especially the PS3 seems to be bad. That's what I see from reading the topics there. Seems it's very strange so many people complain about issues on a platform that's so "cloned". Everybody's running the same Xbox or PS3 so...

I haven't experienced any bugs so far. Some camera issues and control issues that I mentioned before. But no bugs. 360 version.

so are you guys saying this does the story just like the first one? with the 'walk around the lab' inbetween sections?

'cause that's a damn dealbreaker, someone needs to get punched in throat for thinking that would add to the game.

the first 30 minutes or so you are not back in time and it is completely pointless. its basically 'walk here and press A' for like 30 minutes.

then once you get into the past, you don't do anything for like over an hour, other than being errand boy with some cheesy and cliche missions.

it just took way too long to get 'into' tihs game (i've played about 2 hours and i still havent really dont anything) to the point that i don't know if i'll give it another try.

and so far, it seems like more of the same as AC1, not much different. granted, its only been 2 hours, so take that for what it is heh.

There's way less time spent as Desmond in this game. I'm pretty close to the end and have only gone back to the lab twice, and one time was for only a few seconds.

PS3 version.

Zero framerate issues.
Zero screen tearing.
Zero <insert graphical issue here>

I've frozen up twice, both times were on the loading screens while I was fast traveling, and it had autosaved immediately prior so I lost absolutely no progress. I don't regret getting it for my PS3 over my 360 for even a second.

No issues so far with the PS3 version. Well nothing that has stopped me from playing the game.

The game in general just seem to take awhile to get going. I finally got to the first major assassination, and the guy didnt give any speech or anything...I just shanked him, and scenery changed, but died after like one sentence, and I ran away. A little disappointing. I was always curious as to what the last words of my victim were going to be.

Also, does anyone know what the deal is with the guys running around with a bag of money? I saw the guy free running, so I ran him down and shanked him, and I got some cash (~$500). I dont recall starting a mission type or anything. I've seen it twice. If there was some context I might just leave them alone.

They're pickpocketers. Supposedly they have some of your money, but I've never seen one take any money from me. All you have to do is tackle them, pickpocket them, or kill them and you get ~$500.

I agree. I just got my platinum trophy last night, and the ending had me thinking "what the god damned hell?"

I never beat AC1, was its ending crazy too?

Nah, i thought it was pretty anti-climatic (for AC)

Finally picked it up last week and just finished it. Game is a vast improvement over the first. Loved The Truth video and the ending.
