An unlocked XP2500 and a Sapphire 9800Pro 256mb had just landed on my lap this weekend which puts most of my previous financial obligations to a halt. :D I have grown board of the nForce2 and need to go really inexpensive for my next box- I have decided on a KT880 chipset. I found that ASRock K7V88 for generally 50 dollars curiously attractive for the amount of features it offers -other than the lack of Gb lan. I also got a matched pair of OCZ PC3200 EL 1GB just sitten around; further compounded my impulse to build another machine. Are there any opinions on this board out there in English?

Asrock boards usually don't offer as many overclocking options. I would download the manual, and check for an agp/pci lock, and some voltage adjustments in the bios.

none of the via's chipsets are stable over 200 fsb... well some do... but theres a huge issue with via overclocking and agp/pci locks. if you have a mobile it'll overclock to 200fsb just fine but after that theres no guarante on any via chipset.

its worth just that, exactly 50 dollars. if your locking to overclock the kt880s not gonna do it.

The board has no PCI/AGP lock. It's fine for overclocking an unlocked processor though, it has multi. adjustments and you can raise the Vcore by 5 or 10%. You can also change the memory voltage.
It's a fast, cheap and stable board that should be ok for your needs.

You can find some comments from users in the OCWorkBench forum (in English). Registration required to read their forum.

Just ordered one from Newegg. For the features and price it looks like a good value.
Just burned up Shuttle AK32 mobo, had a non-standard USB 10 pin header on mobo. When I plugged the 10 pin plug for front USB ports it shorted 5v to grnd. Thought the mobo had a new led, but it was an SMT resistor next to USB header. Unplugged USB plug, tried to reboot, it starts but then I get a series of long beeps. Decided to try this as ASRock K7V88 as an inexpensive replacement. Checked nanual and has standard USB headers.

Also has good reviews at Newegg.

Came to $48 shipped, plus free $12 watch (they're out of free $5 pens). Personally I would prefer to see them lower their prices a buck or two than get this stuff.

As you can see by my rig sig, it does very well for overclocking a locked processor even.

Me too. Besides, I've had a few of the pens show up dry.

On the ASRock K7V88 can you run the cpu and the memory asynchronous?
I have a lot of ddr2100 memory and 333fsb cpu's that I would like to use.
I am running a N2U400-A which I run the memory at 266 with an XP2500 with the FSB at 400. I would like to do the same thing with the K7V88 if it supports this.

Thanks,
