ASRock Instant boot

Anyone tried it? I own a P452000R wifi and it's currently not on the list.
I see that P45TWIN2000 is on the list and wondering if that would work on my mobo as well.

You need a bios flash to make it work. Be sure the bios version covers your board before flashing. There is a windows and non windows flash program. I used the windows flash program. Follow the directions carefully to avoid a dead board.

Asrock just released more MOBO support for Instant boot!!!!
I just updated the bios to 1.80 and installed the "Instant Boot" utility. It works great!

The trick is, the utility puts your system on hibernate mode and boots it up again in 4 sec.
1-3W usage which is the same as when the system is off.
My system completely shuts off when it goes on instant boot mode. Usually when my system goes to sleep, I would see a blinking light and still hear the fan & PS running. This is not the case with instant boot.

Also, My system seems to be more stable now with the updated bios

Now running my Q6600 @ 3.4ghz 1.37v

So does this work by you shutting down your computer then it reboots and goes straight to S3 or S4 mode, so when you turn it on/resume it is comes back to a freshly restarted state.

Could some kind of windows program just tell the system to restart and go straight to S3 or S4 when it comes back up. I don't see why you would need to get the bios involved in this. This way sounds like it should work with any MB.

Yeah, the system automatically reboots and straight to S3 mode.
When my system goes into S3 mode, the system fan and PS is still running, but not with instantboot...so I am liking it so far.

I would guess that the fans still running has to do with a bios setting (maybe accessible by you) that instantboot is setting correctly for you. That is why the updated bios is needed. I would still think a program for any MB could be created to do this it just would not be able to make changes to the bios. It would be up to the user to have all the power settings set right.

does it take a long ass time to shutdown ?

Yes and No, regardless, it wouldn't matter anyways as one walks away after shutting down. But it does reboot and turns itself again...so in a way the reboot cycle makes the shut down longer.
