Parts:
MB: Z68 Extreme3 Gen3
MEM: Corsair Vengeance 2 x 4GB (tested and working)
PSU: Corsair TX 850W
CPU: i5 2500K
GPU: GTX 580

Everything works, but:

If one or two of the memory modules are placed in either slot DDR3_A1 and/or DDR3_A2 I get error code 38 which is Post-Memmory North Bridge initialization:

Only when memory modules reside in either slot DDR3_B1 and/or DDR3_B2 it boots ok with no error messages and everything in BIOS looks right.

Same exact problem as this guy: http://forums.tweaktown.com/asrock/4...tml#post407347

and this guy: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/...12-boot-sticks

Anyone have a clue what's going on?

Its either a bent pin in CPU socket or bad slots
Gotta look in there with the most powerful magnify glass you can find in good light
could try reseating HSF then min tension for backplate
see this also a lot lately on ASUS (both manuf in same factory)
Also as your link mentioned, the Zif sockets are suspect, I seem to recall in the past some vendor had to be changed to make boards reliable

So the bent pin if that's what it is, must be happening on the same spot on the socket for every one then, since we seem to run into the very same symptom / error codes?

I will have to take a look at the socket and then possibly RMA it.

Everyone else using the same memory? I had compatibility issues with my ASrock mobo with patriot memory.
