Note that the adjacent horizontal couplings, are what are silk-screened onto the board, but in my case, what I had to do to start the board, was jumper the two blue marked pins, that's how I had to wire POWER_SW.

Anyone else run into this, or aM I the crazy one? I've mostly almost never had the silk-screened markings fail on me.

From the manual it has the normal system panel header arrangement. 6-8 for power switch should have worked.
Do you have a photo of the silk screen?

Well, that's logical enough, but shorting out power btn on that diagram did NOT work.

That does not match the silkscreen.

It looks like it matches to me. I believe the issue you have is that the board does not have power on the power switch (+) side so you are now getting it from the reset switch (+). This would work on any motherboard with a standard header layout. You could check with a multimeter. With the power off and the PSU disconnected you should have continuity between the power switch (+) and the reset switch (+) pins.
