My ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 is driving me nutz :) It's is very unstable. My config is as follows

ASRock 939Dual-SATA2
Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Manchester
Corsair Value select 1GB PC3200 3-3-3-8
ATI 9600pro AGP
WD 80G 7200 ATA

The board detects the memory as 166MHz , 2.5-3-3-8 which is a little strange. Setting the memory options in the BIOS to 3-3-3-8 @ 200MHz and I can't even boot into windows. I'll get the windows loading screen then it reboots, same with KNOPPIX off a CD :( But when running with the BIOS defaults it seems to run OK ,but it will still lock up every few hours. I've also tried a set of Corsair TwinX XMS 512MB PC3200 CAS 2 but get the same boot failure when using them, never made it into windows with them.

I'm am not overclocking in anyway, just taking the default settings in the BIOS.

Anyone with a similar config want to share their BIOS settings?

Hey,

I'm also having this problem (long with others) with this board as my build won't even POST if i run the Ram at 1:1 / 400MHz (thank you Boot Guard Failure). However, I always thought that it was because I mixed two models of Ram (corsair VS512mb400 & VS512mb400c3...something like that). With 333MHz @3-3-3-8(all other settings on auto) & 2T(autos to this) dual channel, it runs perfectly(well, this board's version of perfect at least), and there are no errors in Memtest. I haven't tried better timings, but I have tried upping the voltage from auto to high for 400MHz, no dice. I would blame the board due to my crap luck with it, but check around first. I should also mention that BIOS 'SPD's/autos' my Ram to 100MHz @2-2-2-5:Q:|.

Try to check out the official corsair memory forums, they're pretty helpful and it's populated. http://www.houseofhelp.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?forumid=128

By the way, someone else will say this, so I'll just do it now:
- Try Ram in another system first.
- I'm not going to recommend messing with Ram timings/settings myself, I'll leave that to others;) You'll probably hear that corsair is rated at 2.75v though...

Almost forgot(oh wait, I did), check newegg reviews for the BIOS defaulting to 166MHz. Apparently it does that.

The board is touchey about memory. I'm using cheap pqi and it will not boot at 201mhz, but works fine at 200.

Mine works well with my TwinX 3200. Running at 255MHz with memory set to 166 at 1T.Well, I have a good PSU to help the thing. I don't know what else to say.. This motherboard should work. You surely have screwed somewhere. Did you plug both power connectors? And the 4 pins one is really the one with yellow and black wire, not the other one that was snappped to the main connector? (if there was one..)

Is it a fresh install of Windows, or a ported from another system one?

I'm curious to know what happened here. I plan on using this board with 2x1gb Corsair Value sticks!
