This was from another post but it worked for me
Antec p180
Seasonic
opteron 146
Board was not booting at all. It got power, all fans spun for a sec then nothing.
Used a screwdriver on the power pins on the mobo- board booted into bios with checksum error message. even though i had followed ASRocks procedure prior.

Then maybe the board is not grounded properly or did not plug in the case switch correctly.
are all screws mounted?

Screws mounted - no shorting on the board- had the same problem outside of the case.
Double checked the orientation they are correct.
I'll check tomorrow if the switches are actually bad.

Hi,

I am also experienceing the same issue with a 939dual and antec smartpower 2 SP-450. This is my experience:

I can get my old computer to run off this PSU
I can get my new Pc to run off my olf PSU.

The difference is that pin 20 on the atx connector on tha antec is not connected. On the old psu (enermax) this is a white lead and I think provides -5vdc. I've raised an query with asrock and antec and see what they say.

Please let me know if you have any other info.

Regards

Simon

I had a similar problems with this mobo w/Athlon 64 X2 3800+. At first I it kept turining off after about three seconds. I read here that I should try to short on power connector with a screw driver to get it too boot. For me at least, the screw driver trick worked to at least get the monitor to power on. But once I tried to use the normal power switch the same thing happened as before ... turned off after three seconds. I decided to flash the mobo with OCWBeta5 bios (http://www.ocworkbench.com/2005/asrock/bios/betabios.htm). After I did this the mobo ACTUALLY WORKS NORMALLY! I'm installing windows on it now, so it may be a bit premature to celebrate.

Here are the specs of the system:
asrock 939dual-sata2
athlon 64 3800+ X2
1 gig of corsair value select ram (2 x 512 ddr 400)
Zalman 400 watt psu

Best of luck .... the board really puts up a fight!

Hi all,

I got a reply from antec.... I'ts not so good:

Comment: Simon,

The PSU does not come with the -5V since newer motherboards does not need them anymore. We have heard of some incompatibility issue regarding these two parts. I would suggest getting either a different power supply or a different motherboard to get your system working.

Basically I'm ditching the board in favour of an abit kn8 ultra... Oh the joys of RMA land....

I have a X2 3800, 2 x Samsung PC3200 512MB, and a TT TR2-430W hooked up and all it does when I plug in the power is the HS/F spins for a second, and thats it, power button won't do anything, tried another PS and got same result. Its out of the case, I clear CMOS, blew out the memory and cpu slot twice and resat it all......... Not sure what BIOS are on here yet but this is making me mad. I have another rig (this one) that has a hell of a lot more running on it and it works great. Any suggestions?

most no posting happens because the use of the 4 pins connector that is part of the main connector instead of the 4 pins connector with yellow and black wire only. Fact is.. it is not even supposed to be easily plugged in.. while the one with yellow and black wire fits just better ..

or maybe no 4 wires connector plugged in???

Just shorted the power button and it came on, have CMOS Checksum Bad, there is a code in lower right hand corner '0085'.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

AMIBIOS(C) 2005 American Megatrends, Inc.
939Dual-SATA2 BIOS P1.50
CPU : AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+ (64bit supported)
Speed : 2.00 GHz Count : 2

Press F11 for Boot Menu
Dual-Channel Memory Mode
1024MB OK

CMOS Checksum Bad
CMOS Dae/Time Not Set
Press F2 to run Setup
Press F1 to load default values and continue

0085
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So now what?

I have it up and running, loaded W2K on it for giggles. I upgraded BIOS to 1.70, no change in the power button problem. If I shut it down, it stays down and I have to use a screwdriver. It restarts just fine and works just fine, but it seems a bit odd that it won't shut down and start correctly. Anyone have a suggestion on the CMOS Checksum Bad issue? Is it toast?

They can be made to fit actually.. I've seen a bunch of people using it claiming it was just fittimg right..

With force and good will.. anything will fit anywhere ..

I have told my wife that very same thing... :D

HaHaHa

About the board, it runs, well as a matter of fact, but it has a problem with "starting with a power button" and occasionally when it reboots it cant access SATA drives..... so a ctrl+alt+del, F2, F10 and walla it sees drives again and happy day. Seems like an awful lots of work for a rig I was intending on making a fulltime dedicated Qmail server....
